Patients at increased risk may include those with severe heart failure, previous heart attack, cardiomyopathy, inherited rhythm disorders, or serious arrhythmias.
Evaluation may include ECG, echocardiography, Holter monitoring, stress testing, cardiac MRI, or electrophysiology studies.
In high-risk patients, preventive treatment may include medications, ICD implantation, treatment of underlying heart disease, and regular cardiac monitoring.
